Linda Lieberman is recognized as a licensed, professional maternity provider by most insurance plans, and these insurers will reimburse Linda at the maximum allowable for primary women's health care and homebirth services as a non-participating provider. Each individual's insurance plan is unique and may require an enrollee to pay an additional percentage for care. Linda provides an insurance questionnaire to clients, so they may ask informed, insurance-saavy questions of their insurance companies.
The insurers below have made payment on homebirth services in the past decade:
- Regence BlueCross/BlueShield of Oregon
- BlueCross/BlueShield of numerous other states
- ODS
- Oregon Health Plan
- LifeWise
- Providence Preferred
- United Health Care
- Aetna
- Cigna
- ARM
- Numerous self-funded plans
If an insurance carrier is based out-of-state, contact with the insurer prior to care is essential. This helps determine their willingness to reimburse for the services provided by a nurse midwife nurse practitioner.
Linda does not carry contracts with any HMOs for obstetrical care. Women with HMO coverage can request their PCP to submit a "non-paticipating provider" request form to the insurer. The insurer then evaluates the request and makes a determination regarding payment for a homebirth with a certified nurse midwife.
