Postpartum Care

Midwives and Newnborns
Midwives and Doulas work hand in hand.

Postpartum care with the practitioners at Siskiyou Women's Health Care is comprehensive and highly supportive of the entire family's experience after birth. As a certified nurse midwife, Linda Lieberman is fully trained and licensed as a medical professional to care for mothers, and newborns up to 6 weeks of age. Planned home visits after a baby is born help a new mother reduce her need to travel outside of the home in the first two weeks after birth. And a midwife is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at Siskiyou Women's Health Care.

Linda takes time to explain newborn exams and to educate families about the rapid growth and change their babies go through after birth. Newborn assessments and newborn screening tests are done in the home during the first week. Linda employs doulas as part of her birth team, and a doula comes to the home independently, to help out, at least one time in the postpartum period. Overall, postpartum care with the midwives at SWHC provides a satisfying, nurturing recovery experience for each birthing family.
